Demonstrate effective use of “mirror EQ” in a mixing context.
Hello, my name is Francisco Fernández from León, Guanajuato, México. This Lesson is for week 6 (Lesson 5) of 'Introduction to Music Production' at Coursera.com. My Topic is "Demonstrate effective use of 'mirror Eq' in a mixing context".
My OS is Windows 7.
The DAW is:

And I'm use the Equalizer of:

Well, I have a complete mix session (drums, guitar, bass, piano). I want to make a mirror EQ with bass, guitar and piano.
Hear this section without drums and without EQ:
As we heard, we notice that the instruments can confuse each other. Let's start the Eq.
First the bass:

I'm increase the bottom end using the 'Low shelf' filter (increase the gain) and I reduce the high end with a 'High Shelf' Filter (reduce the gain).
This allows me to increase the low frequencies (Instrument frequencies) and reduce that will be covered by another instrument.
Guitar:

in this case the guitar is an instrument accompanying I'm reducing the high end with a 'High Shelf' Filter (reduce gain) and I reduce a Little bit at 564 Hz to avoid unwanted guitar sound (like a can).
This allows me to take presence to the guitar to give prominence to the piano.
Piano:

I use a high pass filter and increase it , this frequencies are taken by the other instruments. And The 'Low shelf' Filter to reduce the bottom end.
And this is it... Let's listen with Eq and without drums:
Now everything is where it should be (LOL).
Now let's hear it with drums:
In conclusion, I think this kind of mixt is very effective to give place to each instrument and understood everything.
Hope you enjoy it. Cheers.
