Hello, my name is Francisco Fernández from León, Guanajuato, México. This Lesson is for week 3 of 'Introduction to Music Production' at Coursera.com. My Topic is "Perform the important editing tasks in your DAW including: trim, separate, crossfade, merge, grid, cycle, markers, zoom, name and color"

My OS is Windows 7.

The DAW is:

My session is composed of:

* Drum Track (Instrument Track)

* Key Track (Instument Track)

* 2 Guitar tracks (Audio Tracks)

* Bass Track (Audio Track)

* 3 Vocal Tracks (Audio Track)

First, I set my MARKERS:

Go to the 'flag' icon, and click to open the Markertrack.

Click the icon beside the legend "marker" to add a new bookmark, double click in the marker to set the name, click and drag to move the 'Flag' (mark) in the MarkerTrack.

ZOOM:

I can zoom into especific place with with the following steps:

* Click in the icon of Selection.

* Select the desired area.

* Press Shift + 'S'

You also can use the ZoomBar and to Return the Zoom press Alt+'Z'

Next, Set The Name & Color:

* First, go to the track and make a right click to open the options.

* Click the color box.

* And choose one.

To set the name:

* Double click in the name.

* And write the new name.

Now let's make a single track for the 'left guitar':

* Press the commankey 'T' to add new Track

* Set the name, type, format (mono/stereo), input (We can not leave the selection empty)

* Click in Ok Button

To Copy And Paste

* Right Click on the Track "Guitar#1" to open de options.

* Select Copy

(also you can select the track and the commandkey Ctrl + 'c')

* Then paste it in the new track "Guitarleft": right click and select the option 'paste' or Ctrl + "v"

To move without the GRID you can click on the track and pressing the 'shift' key, now drag it to the desired location.

Let's Go to TRIM:

* Select the track and Go to the edge.

* Click on the edge and drag it to where you want.

Now let's do a Cross Fade in the 'bass' track:

* Select the tracks in which we apply the cross fade.

* now press the key 'X'

Do a Cycle to hear this section:

* Select the Area in the Top section.

* Click on 'Loop Active' Button.

* Click on 'Play' Button.

Now... the MERGE! I'm going to Merge my bass Track:

* Select the all bass tracks.

* Press the commandkey 'G' or right click and select "Merge Events".

And Finaly... SEPARATE:

I'm using one of my vocal Tracks:

* Select the 'Split Tool'.

* Go to the area you want to separate.

* And Click.
